Sunnyvale, Calif. – September 22, 2015 – Actiontec Electronics has released a new family of 802.11ac Wireless Network Extenders designed to help service providers meet the growing demands for Gigabit speeds inside the home. Featuring dual band 2.4/5 GHz with 4x4 802.11ac, the extenders give broadband subscribers faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connectivity for all their apps and connected devices.
The extenders have already been selected by Tier One broadband service providers to bring 802.11ac speeds into the home, as well as extend the home wireless network and fill in any dead spots.
While service providers are now offering ultra-broadband services that deliver speeds up to hundreds of megabits per second, the typical home network isn’t designed to maintain those speeds throughout all areas. An Actiontec survey found that nearly half of broadband subscribers didn’t think that their Wi-Fi network was fast enough. And these problems will intensify as consumers increase the number of devices that are connected to the home network, including smart TVs, tablets, and gaming devices.
The new 802.11ac Wireless Network Extender family includes both coax and Ethernet- based models. The WCB6200Q uses the latest bonded MoCA 2.0 technology to extend the router’s signal through the home’s existing coax cabling and bring a strong 802.11ac Wi-Fi signal to those areas of the home that can’t be reached with the existing router. The Ethernet-based WEB6000Q can plug into the Ethernet port of the subscriber’s existing router or gateway and provides an instant upgrade to 802.11ac.
Both solutions give service providers a cost-effective road map for delivering Gigabit speeds and supporting the new 802.11ac 4x4 client devices as they become more widely available and adopted in the future. By integrating with the subscriber’s existing home network, the extenders offer an instant performance boost without having to replace the router or wiring.
“Service providers understand that the home network is just as critical as the outside plant. We have been working with broadband service providers to develop products that enable providers to quickly and economically add Gigabit speeds inside the home and boost home network range and performance,” said Brian Henrichs, Chief Business Development Officer at Actiontec Electronics.
The Actiontec network extenders feature the latest advances in Wi-Fi technology. For example, with support for 4x4 802.11ac, the WxB6x00Q offers four streams of data for better performance, while Multi-User MIMO delivers the best possible performance when simultaneously streaming and gaming on multiple devices. In addition, Actiontec implemented a new antenna design that uniquely optimizes antenna placement in three dimensions.
About Actiontec WCB6200Q
The WCB6200Q Wireless Network Extender extends the range of the existing Wi-Fi network to the far corners of the home. And with next-generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi, bonded MoCA 2.0, and Gigabit Ethernet, the WCB6200Q doesn’t just extend the home network, it turbocharges it, so users can enjoy more consistent bandwidth for gaming and video streaming.
The WEB6000Q Wireless Network Extender can connect to the Ethernet port of an existing router, modem, or gateway and adds high-performance 802.11ac wireless speeds to the home network.
