BENGALURU, India: Tata Elxsi, Ltd., has become the latest company, and the first Indian company, to join MoCA (the Multimedia over Coax Alliance), an open, industry-driven initiative promoting distribution of digital video and entertainment through existing coaxial cable in the home. MoCA technology provides the backbone for whole-home entertainment networks of multiple wired and wireless products.

Tata Elxsi, the technology arm of the Tata group, one of India's largest business houses, provides product design and development services for VoIP, broadband access, IP networks, wireless and home networking and consumer electronics.

"A truly global standard is measured by its international appeal and viability in a variety of industry segments. Tata's membership demonstrates MoCA's ability to meet both criterion. We continue to add to our international membership roster with companies from Asia and Europe, and we provide a solution across all broadband digital media industry segments, including telecommunications, cable, satellite and retail," said Charles Cerino, president of MoCA.

MoCA promoters include major players from the retail, consumer electronics, telecom, satellite and cable multiple-system operator industries, including Broadcom, Motorola, Conexant and Comcast.
