Fabless chip vendor Entropic readies IPO EETimes MANHASSET, N.Y. — Entropic Communications Inc., a fabless chip vendor based in San Diego, announced plans on Friday (July 27) for an initial public offering of its common stock. The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined. Entropic, a founding member of Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA), is focused on delivering technologies that enable distribution of digital entertainment over exisiting coax. Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC and Lehman Brothers Inc. will act as joint book-running managers for the proposed offering. Thomas Weisel Partners LLC, JMP Securities LLC and ThinkEquity Partners LLC will be serve as co-managers. Entropic said its offering will be made only through a prospectus. Among Entropic's products are home networking chip sets based on the MoCA standard, high-speed broadband access chip sets and silicon TV tuner ICs.
